Pinehurst School Foundation, Projects and Fund Raisers

  • Stories from Home
In the Fall of 2001 the Foundation funded a curriculum to enhance the writing and oral skill of our students.  With leadership from renowned storyteller Thomas Doty our students were tutored in creating an oral presentation of a story about their home (The Greensprings).  Several of our Junior High students went on to win awards in a regional storytelling competition.
  • Band
In 1997 the Foundation provided seed money to create a band program at the school.  Since then the Pinehurst School band has been continuously supported by the Foundation, and has provided a tremendous amount of musical experience for the students and community members.  The Band plays at many community events, and has traveled throughout southwestern Oregon to Events and Competitions.
  • Library
When Funds were short for the Library Program in 2000,  the Foundation stepped in to support the Library through funding for the part-time Librarian position, and moneys for books and periodicals.  We feel that easy access to a  Library is an absolute necessity for a well rounded student.
  • WinterFest Fund Raiser
The first week in December, the Foundation holds an annual winter festival at the Greensprings Inn. This festival is advertised in the local newspapers and is well attended by the local community and residents of the surrounding area. A Craft Fair is held, refreshments are available and Christmas Trees are available for a Donation.
  • MorelFest Fund Raiser
We have changed the format of our yearly MorelFest fund raiser this year to a benefit dinner.  The dinner will be hosted at the GreenSprings Inn on the evening of Wednesday, May 4th.  The wild morel grows in abundance in this area of southern Oregon, and we hold a seminar with other family activities for people to attend and learn about this delicacy.
